Kim Heirston

Her Style: “I love boldly colored pieces that are sculptural in nature. I’m a big monochrome person, and I like the simplicity of one strong, solid tone set off by some interesting element—like a ruffle or a jewel-encrusted belt—to make it special. The same is actually true of my taste in everything.”

Her Favorite Designers: “Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta.”

Her Causes: “I’m on the board of SculptureCenter, a nonprofit arts institution that’s near and dear to my heart. In many ways sculpture is still an under-recognized medium. SculptureCenter celebrates experimental and innovative developments in contemporary sculpture by commissioning new work and presenting exhibitions by both emerging and established artists. When it comes to supporting the arts, people tend to gravitate more toward painting and photography; sculpture requires more engagement and certainly more space, both in its creation and in how it’s displayed and viewed.”

Her New York: “I love that New York offers so much access to the art world.”

On Her Calendar: April 17 SculptureCenter’s Lucky Draw spring benefit.
